A 4-year design partnership that scaled a benefits-tech startup from concept to ecosystem, while nurturing a product team into design-led thinkers.
As Bharatsure set out to make health insurance and employee benefits more accessible for India’s corporate employees, they needed a long-term design partner who could deliver with conviction and more importantly, bring clarity to the way product managers think, and decisions were made.

We onboarded at the very beginning - when the idea was still a sketch - and shaped the product through every phase: MVP, scale and evolution. But more than screens and flows, our impact lay in helping the team adopt a design mindset - one that now guides how they frame problems, draft PRDs, and collaborate across sprints.

Our biggest challenge was our users - mostly independent insurance brokers; experts in insurance, but not in digital workflows. They were used to pen, paper, and WhatsApp. Their needs were real, but their conventional habits and the lack of motivation to learn a new platform meant that design needed to do more than enable tasks - it had to educate and uplift.
Building foundations first
Establishing robust foundational modules was essential for establishing a clean layer of understanding before building transactional features and workflows like members and claims modules.

Scaling with a design system
A comprehensive design system was built and maintained in Figma. As Healthysure grew, and evolved into Bharatsure - and as mobile and tablet interfaces grew with it, the system scaled. Everything was documented in detail, enabling designers and developers alike to onboard seamlessly and maintain consistency, even as teams changed.
